Approximate goal and stats records for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the top five European football leagues (La Liga, Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1). Please note that these numbers might have changed since then, and it’s a good idea to consult the latest sources for the most up-to-date information:

Lionel Messi (as of September 2021):

  • La Liga (with Barcelona): Over 474 goals in around 520 appearances.
  • Note: Messi left Barcelona and joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1 after my last knowledge update.

Cristiano Ronaldo (as of September 2021):

  • Premier League (with Manchester United): Over 84 goals in around 196 appearances.
  • La Liga (with Real Madrid): Over 311 goals in around 292 appearances.
  • Serie A (with Juventus): Over 101 goals in around 134 appearances.
  • Note: Ronaldo left Juventus and returned to Manchester United in the Premier League after my last knowledge update.

Lionel Messi was playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after leaving FC Barcelona. Please note that my information might be outdated, and I might not have the latest data on his performances. However, I can give you a general idea of some of his top performances up until that point:

1.            April 6, 2010 – FC Barcelona vs. Arsenal (UEFA Champions League): Messi scored all four goals in a 4-1 victory for FC Barcelona. His exceptional performance helped Barcelona secure a spot in the semifinals of the Champions League.

2.            May 28, 2011 – FC Barcelona vs. Manchester United (UEFA Champions League Final): Messi was instrumental in Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League final. His skillful dribbling and playmaking ability were on full display, and he contributed to Barcelona’s dominance.

3.            March 8, 2017 – FC Barcelona vs. Paris Saint-Germain (UEFA Champions League Round of 16): In an incredible comeback, Barcelona overturned a 4-0 first-leg deficit to win 6-1 in the second leg. Messi scored a crucial free-kick and also provided assists, helping his team advance to the quarterfinals.

4.            April 23, 2017 – Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona (La Liga): Messi scored a last-minute goal to secure a 3-2 victory for Barcelona against their arch-rivals, Real Madrid. The match showcased his ability to perform under pressure and his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

5.            May 1, 2019 – FC Barcelona vs. Liverpool (UEFA Champions League Semifinal): Messi scored two goals in a 3-0 first-leg victory against Liverpool. His remarkable free-kick goal in particular was a standout moment of the match.
