- All eyes on the coli
As the first Test between India and Sri Lanka begins in Mohali today, all eyes are on Virat Kohli. Today, Virat Kohli is setting a historic record that only 11 Indian players have conquered so far. The BCCI has decided to honor the player ahead of the match, which allowed 50 per cent of spectators to enter the stadium during Kohli’s 100th Test match. The Punjab Cricket Association has set up flexes and cutouts inside and outside the stadium to highlight the excitement of the Century Test. But yesterday, Virat Kohli was training hard in the nets without paying attention to outside noises. The former India captain is preparing to respond with a bat to his recent poor performances in Tests.
Kohli returned to the Indian team’s bio-bubble last Sunday after missing the Twenty20 match against Sri Lanka. Though he was expected to see the media before the 100th Test, it did not happen but coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma, who attended the press conference, spent most of their time praising Kohli’s legendary career.
Everyone is looking forward to Kohli’s batting in the 100th Test. It’s been 27 months since they saw a collie century in Tests. The last was in November 2019 against Sri Lanka. In the meantime, he has scored 6 half-centuries but needs a sub-century from Kohli’s bat to end the disappointment of the fans.
