Adrian Luna’s stunning goal could not ensure Kerala Blasters FC a win as FC Goa fought back in a thrilling Indian Super League match which ended 2-2 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Sunday.
Kerala Blasters disappointed against FC Goa in ISL. The match ended 2-2. The Kerala Blasters had to settle for a 2-2 draw after leading by two goals in the opening overs.
The match started with an attack by the Blasters, who saw impressive goals. Sahal accepted the pass given by Kerala Blasters striker Vasquez but could not find the target. However, the Kerala Blasters did not have much time to score the first goal. In the 10th minute, Jackson Singh put the ball into the net with a powerful header from a corner taken by Luna.
In the 20th minute, Luna’s amazing goal came 25 yards out. Luna’s goal was one of the best goals of the season. This is the player’s second goal of the season. Goa scored four minutes after the goal. Ortiz’s strike was a good turn from outside the penalty box. This goal put pressure on the Blasters.
In the 32nd minute, Sahal got another golden opportunity. Sahal missed a header from Luna in front of the goal post. Another amazing goal came in the 37th minute. Edu Bedia scored the Olympic goal from a corner. Edubedia’s corner was to reach the net. The score was 2-2.
In the 41st minute, a scuffle between Diaz and Glenn Martins led to the referee’s controversial decision. Instead of giving yellow cards to Glenn Martins and Diaz, referees gave yellow cards to Glenn Martins and Leskovic. This led to the protest of the Kerala Blasters.
Poor refereeing and fouls slowed down the game in the second half. Blasters star Luna was also injured. Chencho had a good chance from Diaz’s cross but the Bhutanese striker’s first touch disappointed. The Kerala Blasters were relieved when Edu Bedia’s free kick hit the bar in the 87th minute .Gill saved a shot from Ortiz in the 94th minute.
The unbeaten run will continue but the loss of 2 goal lead will be a big disappointment for the Kerala Blasters. The Kerala Blasters are third in the league with 14 points from 9 matches.
Jeakson Singh (10th) opened the scoring for the Blasters before Luna scored a wondergoal in the 20th minute to make it 2-0. Kerala looked on top before FC Goa came back to first make it 2-1 riding a Jorge Ortiz (24th) strike before Edu Bedia scored from the corner in the 38th minute
Kerala are now third in the league table with 14 points from nine games while FC Goa remain at ninth with nine points from nine outings.
Kerala were off to a perfect start, nosing ahead in just 10 minutes after Luna swung in a delectable corner for Jeakson to head home. The yellow shirts dominated proceedings thereafter with Glan Martins smashing a volley from long just over, against the run of the play.
Kerala went 2-0 up soon after, Luna showing his brilliance this time. The Uruguayan was given space on the left inside channel and the 29-year old made merry, getting the ball to dip past the keeper from 30 yards out. The ball hit the post and went in leaving Dheeraj Moirangthem with no chance to keep it out.
Pegged back twice in quick succession, FC Goa picked themselves up riding on Ortiz’s strike. The Spaniard received a ball from Saviour Gama, turned sharply and fired home past Prabhsukhan Singh Gill who was beaten at his near post.
Kerala came close to making it 3-1 near the half time whistle when Sahal Abdul Samad shot over the bar from a Alvaro Vazquez cross. FC Goa drew level from the next attack, and it was Edu Bedia who got in the act curling in an exquisite corner that went in leaving Gill high and dry.
A frantic first half came to an end with both sides level at 2-2.
In the second period, both teams showed caution as chances were few and far between. Edu Bedia’s effort from a free-kick came off the crossbar much to FC Goa’s dismay as the match ended with both teams sharing the spoils.
