Kolkata’s backbone for Delhi’s IPL progress; Prithviraj Shah in tears

Sharjah: The Kolkata Knight Riders advanced to the IPL final after beating Delhi Capitals in a thrilling match. Batting first, Kolkata reached the target in the fifth ball of the final over. The team won by three wickets.
The Delhi team, which had made great strides throughout the tournament, could not bear the defeat. After the match, the eyes of many Delhi players were filled with tears.
After Rahul Tripathi’s victory over Kolkata, Delhi’s Prithviraj Shah was in a state of total collapse. Shah’s eyes filled with tears as he sat on the field in despair. Many of his teammates came to comfort him, but Shah bowed his head on the ground.

At one point, Delhi surrendered, shocking Kolkata, which was on the verge of an easy victory. Batting first, Kolkata were 123 for one in 14.5 overs. Kolkata fell to 130 for seven, crushing him like a lottery. Rahul Tripathi smashed a six in the last over to give Kolkata the lead.

Delhi Capitals’ (DC) young brigade couldn’t hold their emotions back after a heartbreaking loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the second qualifier of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Sharjah on Wednesday. Prithvi Shaw was lying on the ground and couldn’t control his tears and skipper Rishabh Pant was speechless when he was called for the post-match interview.

In what was a splendid campaign for the Capitals where they topped the table with 10 wins in 14 games, it came to a screeching halt in the playoffs as they lost to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first qualifier in the last over and couldn’t go past KKR in the second as the men in purple’s smashing form in the second half hit them like a truck.

After losing the toss, the Capitals batted first but their innings couldn’t get going. After a few good overs in the powerplay, the KKR spinners strangled the DC batting line-up in the middle overs as they weren’t able to find boundaries and it was a struggle for them throughout the innings. Shimron Hetmyer and Shreyas Iyer hit some lusty blows in the end but 135 wasn’t enough.

Delhi Capitals will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the second qualifier of the IPL. Delhi, who topped the points table, had to wait for the second qualifier after losing to Chennai in the first qualifier. Delhi made it to the play-offs in the first quarter in India and the second quarter in the UAE.

Kolkata were seventh in India in the first quarter. Captain Owen Morgan is a complete

failure as a batsman. But not so in captaincy. Morgan is using his international experience in the use of the bowling line-up and fielding changes. Undoubtedly, KKR is the team that has put out the best performance in the UAE quarter.

Delhi Capitals are a team that has made great strides in the last two to three seasons. The team led by Shreyas Iyer reached the final last season. This time the team led by Rishabh Pant also made a great progress. Rishabh Pant, Dhoni’s successor to the Indian team, has been a major force in the team.

The strength of KKR and Delhi is the so-called next generation of youth in India. Delhi will be led by Rishabh Pant, who is widely regarded as India’s future captain. Prithviraj Shah is one of the young openers. Presence of Shreyas Iyer in the middle order. Akshar Patel and Avesh Khan in the bowling line-up. Rishabh Pant and Akshar Patel have been named in the World Cup squad. There is also senior player R Ashwin.

Avesh Khan is currently the second highest wicket-taker in the world. The discoverer of this IPL was a net bowler in the national team in the Test series against England. There are reports that he will also be a net bowler in the World Cup squad. Prithviraj Shah has played in good form in the last two matches. KKR, on the other hand, is not bad at all. Their opener is Venkatesh Iyer, the inventor of this IPL. Shubhman Gill, Rahul Tripathi and Nidheesh Rana are all in form. Any team wants a spinner like Varun Chakraborty. With Sunil Narine and Shakib Al Hasan back in form, the team has become even stronger. The only problem for the team is Morgan’s batting form.
